I had this issue today morning but when i deleted the bitraider folder the launcher verified the game folder completely and resumed downloading normally. Press windows key + r key, type cmd in the run box and press enter to open command prompt. Type command netsh winsock reset and press enter.
Close command prompt and restart pc. It's also possible that the issue league of legends update stuck at 0 is caused by corrupted game files. A harmless fix here is to restart your pc by pressing alt + f4 and choosing restart.
Once your system is up and running check if you still get the issue. This fix can be a bit extreme based on the size of your game or its update. But if you have fast internet then it is definitely worth a shot.

The initial riot client (~200mb) installs and boots for the first time (lutris installer is still running). However, the riot client, which downloads and installs the lol client gets stuck on the downloading phase, instantly saying the download is complete. Nothing actually gets downloaded or installed.
