Check your recording device settings and that your mic is the default one. Check the input volume for it too. Sorry if i wasn't specific, but i mean that i can't hear others.
I can use my mic, and others can hear me, but i can't hear anyone else. I reinstalled steam itself, and it is. Find the and steam settings in the tab voice if you have the recieve and transmit volume on.
Also if you have your mic as the default voice transmit device. If you have a pc go into recording settings and make sure you have the mic enabled then go back into gmod and into voice settings and test microphone. Keep messing around with stuff until you get it.
Did you ever get this fixed? I’m having the same exact problem, same mic and everything. My voice chat stopped working and i dont know why.
I tried everxthing and looked up all the previous help posts but literally nothing works. When i use discord or other apps everything works fine, only gmod doesn't : I was trying to play darkrp and i went to press the x key, only for nothing to happen.
I checked my binds and x was in fact bound to voice chat. I tried binding it to another key and resetting binds, but nothing happened. Log in or sign up to leave a comment.

Amd radeon r9 200 series citizenfx crash zip file (‘save information’ on a crash): Garry's mod derives voice from steam settings as well. Make sure to check not only voice settings ingame but voice settings in steam as well.
And also double check its enabled in recording devices in windows. (i know it is, but just to double check) steam's test on microphone passes as well. Just a few minutes ago it worked for about 30 seconds.
So when join a server, i use the voice chat key (it's set to x) and it doesn't work! I changed the mic setting in steam and gmod. I've tried using my headphone mic and computer mic.
I am running windows 10. I have 2gb (but gmod runs fine) and i have an external hard drive. I has adjusted all of the setting in the options menu and this does not help.
Although, when the test microphone button in the options menu is pressed i can hear my voice if my push to talk button is held. This stops as soon as a disable the testing of my microphone. I have also tried to user the console command 'voice_loopback_1'.
Try going to your sound options and setting your headset to default communication device, the same with voicemod in the mic option. Idk what sieges settings are but then try to find a voice chat menu and.
