If you're having trouble parrying i strongly reccommend you practise against the hollows in firelink shrine. Gwyn, lord of cinder final boss strategy. Gwyn will immediately try to rush you down and hit you with a flurry of attacks with his flaming sword, which does fire.

Once you kill gwyn you have two choices. Link the fire and become the new lord of cinder. Don't link the fire and become the lord of dark.

Easy way to kill gwyn. In case anyone has problems defeating him, here's an easy way to do it. Equip a shield with very high stability and fire damage reduction (knightshield of artorias, havel's shield or black knight shield) and a zweihänder.
Upgrade all of these as much as you can. I decided to buy dark souls 1 because it was on sale. I progressed through kinda smoothly until undead burg.
