Substitute grs for certain bosses or mix them up in pvp. With hexing stats you will also be a competent pyromancer so throw those into the mix, forbidden sun is good with 43 atn and an additional cast from hexer or saint's hood. For a build capping at sl 150 or so with a 22/22 or 30/30 split: I would recommend that you use a dark infused black witch staff (not really much less dark ar than caithas) if you plan to use both types of hexes. The best hex for pve would be great resonance soul. Costs 500souls a cast but the damage output is insane. I'm not into sorceries but soul spear should be good, albeit with very few casts.
If you're into pyro, which scales with int/faith, flame swathe and fire storm are good. Dark orb is by far the most insane 'base mob' damage spell for the. 17 rowsin the original dark souls, hexes were only a subset of sorcery colloquially called dark.

So far i've tried only some of then and mostly for pve, but from all top tier easily achievable high dmg miracles/spells/hexes (great lightning spear/soul spear) with sane stats (less than 50) resonant soul has by far the best performance/price ratio. Jan 27, 2015 @ 11:50am. I know the sunset staff is the best for hexes, but overall for all 3 magic types, i dunno. The best for damage are just affinity and the orbs, i think, and scraps of life and climax.
That's just what i found to be the case though. The great resonant soul is. Speaks for itself, i think.
