He formed crazy cavan & the rhythm rockers in 1970, with the band still actively touring and recording prior to grogan's death in 2020. Grogan started out as screamin' count dracula & the vampires, along with lyndon needs, terry walley and gerald bishop. Crazy cavan 'n' the rhythm rockers originally formed in 1964 under the name of count dracula and the vampires. The band originally featured cavan on vocals, lyndon needs on lead guitar, terry walley on rhythm guitar and gerald bishop on drums. In 1968 they changed their name to the sundogs.

Then in 1973, after drummer mike coffey replaced. They made the link between the pioneers of the 50’s and the rockabilly revival of the 80’s, and when bands were happy to play covers, they came with a set of solid originals and never stop. Crazy cavan 'n' the rhythm rockers:
